« Hey Seigneur, comment est-ce que tu vois la ville de Lyon ? Et quel est ton cœur pour les lyonnais ? » C’est à travers cette question que nous avons entamé la dernière semaine de notre phase pratique. Le but : demander à Dieu les besoins qu’il y a dans cette ville et y apporter une réponse de manière artistique !
« Frappez et l’on vous ouvrira. »
Une porte, un salon, des bougies et cette parole de Jésus inscrite sur la porte. Voilà de quoi susciter la curiosité des passants ! Nous avons accueilli dans notre salon aménagé Rue de la République, tous ceux qui voulaient partager autour de la foi, qui avaient envie de prier ou qui avaient besoin d’être écoutés. Ce fût une journée pleinement guidée par Dieu !
De la valeur redonnée aux gens!
Que diriez-vous d’apercevoir le portrait d’un sans-abri alors que vous vous promenez sur une des rues principales de Lyon ? Mais cela ne s’arrête pas là, une des phrases suivantes « La beauté de l’être n’appartient pas à une élite » ou « La beauté vient de l’intérieur » y est présente, amenant les gens dans une réflexion sur la véritable beauté. Des discussions profondes ont pu naître !
Danse house, livepainting, danse sur échasse, espoir, appartenance, théâtre, témoignages… les spectacles étaient également au rendez-vous cette semaine! Et encore une fois, nous avons vu que Dieu utilise l’art puissamment.
Ce que j’ai vu cette semaine, ce sont des gens qui ont besoin d’être écoutés, des gens qui ont besoin de parler et de se confier, des gens qui se sentent seuls. J’ai rencontré Philippe et Catherine à la suite d’un spectacle, nous avons commencé à parler et pour eux, Jésus est vraiment la solution, le meilleur des supers héros.
Dans ma tête, je me dis bon ben c’est une discussion sympa mais c’est des chrétiens (et notre but c’est quand même de faire de l’évangélisation !). Puis la discussion évolue et je réalise que l’un n’a pas de Bible et qu’ils n’ont ni église, ni amis chrétiens autour d’eux. En quelques phrases, je témoigne alors de l’importance et de la bénédiction d’avoir une église et des gens partageant ma foi autour de moi. Et soudain leur cœur s’ouvre : « Ce n’est pas un hasard si on vous rencontre ici ce soir. » Et ils commencent à m’expliquer qu’ils vont avoir une épreuve difficile à traverser dans trois jours. J’ai alors pu prier pour eux, ils ont été vraiment touchés et je pense qu’une petite porte s’est ouverte sur l’importance d’être entouré par des gens partageant notre foi.
C’était un rendez-vous divin.
« Hey God, how do you see the city of Lyon? What is your heart for the people of Lyon? » Through this question we began the last week of our outreach. The goal: To ask God to show us the spiritual needs of this city and then to find a way to meet these needs through our art and giftings.
“Knock and the door will be opened.”
A door, a living room, some candles and the words of Jesus written on the door. That is all we need to catch the attention of passer-bys! In our “living room”, located on a street that passes through the heart of Lyon (Rue de la République), we welcomed anyone who wanted to talk about their beliefs, those who needed prayer and those who just simply needed to be listened to. This resulted in a day that was truly guided by God!
Value given back to the people!
How would you react upon seeing a portrait of a homeless man along the side of a major street in Lyon? We did not stop at that. Our portraits were accompanied be the words“ beauty does not belong to an elite” and “beauty comes from the inside” causing passer-bys to reflect on the true meaning of beauty. As a result, were able to engage in many profound conversations with on-lookers.
House dance, live painting, dance on stilts, hope, belonging, theater, testimonies… our shows had their final debut in the streets of Lyon this week. And again, we saw God’s incredible use of art for his kingdom.
This week I met many people who needed to confine in someone, who needed to speak, who needed to be listened to, and who felt alone. I meet Philippe and Catherine at the end of one of our shows. We started to talk to them and we discovered that for them, Jesus is the solution and the best of all super heroes in their life.
In my head I thought to myself, “Well, this is a cool conversation and all but they are Christians and our goal is to evangelize to Non-Christians”. As the conversation continued, I discovered that one of them did not have a bible and neither of them had a church or Christian friends in their life. In a few sentences, I shared with them the importance and blessing of having a church and a family of Christ that can help them grow in their faith. And suddenly, their hearts were very open: “It is no coincidence that we met you here tonight.” They began to explain to me that for the past three days they had gone through some very difficult trials in their life. Therefore, I was able to pray for them, and they were very touched and encouraged. Also, I believe that on that day they became aware of the importance of being surrounded by a family in Christ.
